Spanish slow-fashion brand Thinking Mu approached Machas with a clear vision: crafting a light, sculptural installation for the window displays accompanying the launch of AW26 collection, Positive Nostalgia, in their flagship stores in Madrid and Barcelona.
We selected from our international artist network Cristina Velasco Mora, a paper artist based in Galicia, to bring their vision to life: “there is something strange about nostalgia” Cristina explains. “It isn’t always sadness. Sometimes, it’s simply missing something beautiful — a place, a time, a person, a feeling. In Galicia, we have a word for that: morriña. It’s a word I’ve always loved because it speaks of more than just missing something; it speaks of carrying with you what is no longer there.”
She continues: “I wanted to create a piece that feels like a vast paper memory — something suspended between what once was and what is now.”
The result: two delicate, poetic yet sculptural paper installations that appear to float within the window space.
